Custom Stainless Steel Static Mixers

Custom Static Mixer

Koflo produces a complete line of custom stainless steel static mixers made from industrial grade schedules 10 through 40 pipe, in sizes ranging from 3/8"- 60" diameter. All stainless steel metal static mixers are custom designed for each application. Koflo stocks all of the raw materials for the mixer line and can produce a flanged industrial mixer in as little as 1-2 days, if needed. Standard materials of construction include carbon steel, 304L and 316L stainless steel. Other higher alloys are available upon request for inline static mixers.

NSF 61 certification is available for most custom stainless steel static mixer configurations.

Stainless steel blade elements

Koflo Blade™ Mixing Elements

The patented Koflo Blade™ style element provides Koflo's best-in-class efficient mixing ability for turbulent flow applications combined with minimal pressure (head) loss. Koflo's Blade™ elements are available in multiple configurations for demanding applications

  • Standard Design - Recommended for most applications. Koflo's standard configuration provides the best combination of mixing ability, pressure loss, and overall length.
  • Low Pressure Loss Design - For limited head pressure applications where lower pressure loss is a critical requirement. Lower pressure loss than standard design elements.
  • Ultra Low Pressure Loss Design - For critically limited head applications where lower pressure loss is paramount to the system design.
  • High-Mix Design - For space-constrained applications that demand Koflo's best-in-class mixing in a shorter overall length

Please note that Koflo does not sell elements without housings. Elements are shown for informational purposes only.

Stainless steel helical mixing elements

Helical mixing elements

Koflo's helical-style static mixer elements are designed to provide optimal mixing for laminar / plug flow applications. Benefits of helical-style mixing elements include:

  • Optimal mixing for laminar or high-viscosity flows
  • Low pressure loss design
  • Ensure homogeneous mixing across large flow ranges

Please note that Koflo does not sell elements without housings. Elements are shown for informational purposes only.

Stainless steel static mixer with removable non-clog (sludge) mixing elements

Non-clog (Sludge) mixing elements

Koflo's patented non-clog (sludge) mixing elements are based on Koflo's standard Blade™ mixing elements and are designed to eliminate clogging or plugging.

Historically, a number of industries with fibrous slurry applications avoided the use of static mixers due to their tendency to plug or foul. In response to this problem, Koflo was the first static mixer manufacturer to fully develop and patent a revolutionary static mixer that is free of pinch points or intersecting elements. Non-clog (sludge) mixer elements are able to handle the most fibrous slurries without plugging. Each mixer contains a series of alternating right and left hand elements thatblend the product stream with counter rotating vortices.

Non-clog elements are available in fixed or removable (shown above) configurations.

End Connections

Stainless steel static mixer with flanged ends

Flanged Ends

Flanged end connections provide easy assembly and disassembly in piping systems. For stainless / alloy static mixers with flanged end configurations, Koflo offers Class 150 raised face flanged ends as standard.

All standard flange dimensions conform to ASME B16.5 standards.

Other flange standards, classes, or configurations (ie. DIN) available by request.

Stainless steel static mixer with weld neck flanged ends

Weld Neck Flanged Ends

Weld neck flanged ends are characterized by a long, tapered hub that transitions from flange thickness to pipe wall thickness and are recommended for harsh service conditions. The tapered design of weld neck flanges allows for greater endurance under conditions where the line is subjected to forces such as bending or expansion.

See "Flanged Ends" option for a chart of Class 150 Flange Dimensions

Stainless steel static mixer with sanitary-style Tri-Clamp® ends

Tri-Clamp® Ends

Tri-Clamp ends are a non-permanent piping connection method commonly used in sanitary applications such as food processing and are joined using C-shaped clamps . Tri-Clamp ends feature grooved indentations on the flange face which mate with a sealing gasket.

For more information on mixers for sanitary or hygienic applications, visit our Sanitary/Hygienic Custom Static Mixers page.

Note: Koflo does not provide clamps or gaskets with mixers configured with Tri-Clamp ends.

Other Options

Stainless steel static mixer with FNPT injection port

Chemical Injection Ports

Chemical injection ports allow the additive stream to be injected directly into the static mixer. If more than one chemical injection port is necessary, multiple ports can be configured in a linear or radial fashion. Injection ports are available in multiple configurations to suit your application.

Alternate Configurations

Stainless steel flow straightening vane

Flow Straightening Vane

Flow straightening vanes can be added to the downstream end of any stainless steel / alloy mixer to significantly reduce the flow rotation caused during the mixing process. Flow straightening vanes have a negligible impact on pressure loss.

Stainless steel static mixer with heating / cooling jacket and removable helical mixing elements

Heating / Cooling Jackets

Heating / Cooling jackets can be added to most configurations for heating, cooling, or maintaining thermal homogeneity within the process stream. Inlet and outlet ports are positioned for heating / cooling fluid to flow easily through the jacket system and can be configured to suit your equipment.

Stainless steel static mixer with removable elements and element retaining disc

Removable Elements

In some applications, it may be necessary to gain access to the interior mixer elements for cleaning or removal of pipeline obstructions. For these situations, Koflo offers removable mixing elements. Unlike standard stainless / alloy elements which are welded to the housing, Koflo's removable Blade™ style elements are fully removable and are secured to the mixer by means of an element retention disc on the discharge end of the mixer (shown above).

Please Note: Koflo offers many additional mixer options that may not be listed above. Please Contact Us to discuss other options or requirements for your specific application.
